How often should you change your oil?

There is no single number that fits every vehicle. Modern engines on full synthetic often go far longer than the old 5,000 km rule of thumb, while short winter trips around Sudbury, idling, towing and dusty back roads all shorten the interval. The honest answer is to follow your manufacturer's schedule for the way you actually drive — and to check the oil level between services.
